Michael's Impact Review #27

Aired August 5, 2010

The Impact Zone - Orlando, Florida

-  What a wild 48 hours it has been for me.  I came home last night from work, hoping to jump right into Impact, instead I get 2 hours of a recorded black screen.  Somebody, somewhere, does not want me reviewing TNA anymore.  So, I stumbled across the Spike TV website and they have the entire episode uploaded, commercial free.  At least I hope it is the entire episode.  So I will be reviewing the show from there.  If I omit anything, have a heart.  I tried.  Also, I the pleasure of seeing an independent show tonight featuring Shelton Benjamin.  He looked very good in the ring and I even shelled out 10 bucks to get a picture with him.  If you are interested in seeing his match from tonight, it will be on a website along with the whole show that had Chris Hamrick and Lodi, as well.  Ok, stop laughing, it was a great show.  You can check it out at CWAprowrestling.com.  LET'S CROSS THE LINE! WCW Still Sucks

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

Hey Scott,

Been reading your board in regards to what everyone blames the death of WCW on, and wanted to connect to the man himself (you) for my thoughts. People like to blame Starcade 97 & the Finger Poke of Doom, and they are right, those things definately killed interest. But isn't just the lousy, arrogent, booking of Nitro the real thing to blame. I mean somewhere in 97 they got very over-confident and began airing never-ending Hogan masturbation promos w/ no real storytelling, just biding their time till Sting vs Hogan. Then in 98 there was some solid (questionable) effort. I mean they took a risk & split up the NWO & began building up Goldberg, with the DDP/Raven feud in the undercard. But then that summer the programming got really bad. The Warrior w/ his magic smoke & mirrors? Jay Leno/NWO Night Cap w/ Bischoff? And then after the poke of doom came the worst of all...The No Limit Soldiers. I mean instead of blaming one stupid incident, shouldn't we just blame it on years of bad TV?

There are a million things you can blame it on.  The years of bad TV certainly contributed as much as anything else, but TV is easy to turn around in a few weeks.  Killing PPV off?  That’s tough to come back from.

Quoth the Raven…

Sunday, May 9th, 2010

Hey Scott, I was wondering if you could post on your blog this request. A friend of mine and I have been dying to find this promo from Raven. It happened on a Smackdown right around Tazz's debut, Raven ends up going "I never got a hotdog". So can you post this on your blog? Maybe some one out there has it and can upload it?

Well, of course you understand that the official position of Scott’s Blog of Doom is that we only deal in legally obtained footage and would never just “upload” something…

The SmarK DVD Rant for Jake Roberts: Pick Your Poison

- This was one that I skipped when it came out because it didn't really appeal to me for $25. But for $6, hey, why not?

We start with a poem, written by Jake Roberts, so I'm already getting a bad feeling going into this.

Michael's Extreme Review #7

February 18, 2010

The Impact Zone - Orlando, Florida

-  Well with the announcement of TNA returning to Monday nights in March, I am kind of excited.  Maybe this will be the shot in the arm for TNA.  Also, on a side note, if there is no Impact Review next week, it is because I am in the process of moving to Knoxville.  At least now, I will be able to see the Blackhawks play when they travel to Nashville.  Does anyone actually go to Predator games?  Onto the show!

-  Let's kick off Impact with Eric Bischoff alluding to a stealing talent from the WWE.  Rumor has it they want Edge.  He may get lost in the shuffle, but at least he is a Tampa boy, so he might get special treatment.  Now we get a an Against All Odds video recap.  Then followed up by the announcement of Impact starting on Monday nights at 9PM on March 8.

The SmarK Rant for TNA Impact! - January 4, 2010

"Time For a Change"

- Live from Orlando, FL.

- Your hosts are Tenay & Tazz.

- Since I get Spike and not the Score (the channel that carries RAW in Canada), curiosity got the best of me and I decided to watch Impact tonight, because I figure a spectacular trainwreck is just as good as a great show as far as entertainment value goes. We shall see.

The Captain Hindsight Retro Review of WWF Invasion 2001

By red29 (redw29@gmail.com)

With the decade nearing a close and since I have been collecting wrestling DVDs at a pace like the movie 2012 is real and it is my job to archive professional wrestling for all of mankind, I wanted to take a look back and re-watch the pay-per-views of arguably the biggest storyline flop this decade– the Invasion. So I fired up the Amazon Marketplace and found new original copies of the Invasion (very easy actually), Summerslam, Unforgiven, No Mercy and Rebellion (hey, why not?) shows. I’m still shopping for Survivor Series 2001 and may have to settle for the future Anthology version much to my chagrin (the extras and non blurring may change my mind though).
