I don't know if you or the RSPWFAQ universe can answer this question. I was one of the few who attended the Wrestling Legends on Tour convention in St. Louis this past weekend. During one of the Q&A sessions, Kamala the Ugandan Giant mentioned he once took a gun to the ring. Despite my requests for him to tell more about it they wrapped up the session and we didn't get the story. So my question is, what was the deal with Kamala taking a firearm into the ring? When did it happen and why?
You got me. More importantly, where would he hide it?

Normally I don’t just post the bazillions of press releases that wind up in my mailbox, but this one looks interesting.

Well this was a forgettable card that shouldn't have been with Cena and Batista getting elevated. Unfortunately the wrong people were assisting with the elevating.
Surprisingly good undercard with a ***** HBK-Angle match but some poorly executed stuff at the top of the card.
Enjoy.

Easily the best Pay Per View of all time. And frankly I don't think Bash '89, for as good as the final three matches were, comes close. Luger-Steamboat and Flair-Funk have stood through time (Luger-Steamboat gets better actually) but Muta-Sting doesn't age well for me.
This card has four ****+ matches by my count which is mind blowing stuff.
Enjoy.

So as I mentioned in the comments a few days ago, I bought an Xbox 360 Pro off Ebay (used) for $150, which was a pretty good deal for me since my main concern was using it as a media center and playing Grand Theft Auto. So I get it yesterday and set it up to stream content from my computer and sign into Xbox Live (gamertag: rspwfaq, as if you couldn’t guess) and yada yada, and play a couple of hours of Legends of Wrestlemania to break it in. This morning, I watched a couple of videos on the media center, everything’s fine, then I get funny colors on the screen and weird lines. I tried switching to HDMI and that was OK, and then boom, error E74 and the dreaded red ring of death. Or at least lower right hand red light of death. Naturally, I’m pissed, and upon registering with Microsoft I discover that the standard warranty expired April 2009. I’m getting madder so I e-mail the company that sold it to me, and their solution is to ship it back to them and they’ll have their technician “look at it.” Yeah right. Finally, I call 1-800-4MyXbox as a last gasp because the automated repair estimate thing online wasn’t working properly for me, and I get a very nice person on the line who informs me that:
- Standard warranties are extended to 3 years in cases of the E74 and they’re very sorry to hear about my troubles.
- They will e-mail me a shipping label for UPS so I can send it to them for free.
- They will repair, or more likely replace, the unit also for free and send it back within two weeks.
Now THAT is some impressive customer service, because they took a horribly frustrating experience for me and turned it into a positive with one phone call. And it didn’t even matter that I bought the unit used. So thank you, Microsoft, for not being the douchebags that the Mac commercials make you out to be.

The Wrestling Press - Issue 5
FREE online magazine
Huge 78 page Christmas/New Year edition
http://www.thewrestlingpress.com/mag.html
In the latest edition of FREE online magazine The Wrestling Press, wrestling supremo Gabe Sapolsky admits that his inexperience at ECW almost resulted in violence; "I found myself stuck in between Bubba Dudley and a bunch of stuff flying around. I ran towards Bubba's side, thinking he would just let me by, but he didn't budge and I almost got squashed. Afterwards in the locker room, me being pretty ignorant in my youth, went up to Bubba and told him he should move in those situations. Bubba looked at me for a second like he was going to kill me, then calmed himself and said "you should never tell a wrestler that he has to move, it is your job to move around us, and if I didn't like you I'd smack you right now."
Also in this 78 page bumper issue John Milner contemplates the future of ECW. Although the brand may be unfamiliar to fans of old the new format is still an important stage of a wrestler's career. After all, despite the violence and blood, the original ECW was regarded as the top arena for performers to hone their skills, and John argues that those same values are still prevalent today: "With the WWE's marketing department trumpeting ECW as 'the place to see tomorrow's legends today' (or some other catchy slogan), those fans disinterested in what Raw and Smackdown has to offer might find more exciting wrestling in ECW (which is what made the original ECW so successful in the first place)."

Scott,
Firstly, hello from a long-time reader going back to the Netcop days. I've dug your stuff for . . . Jesus, much longer a time than I ever realized until I thought about it just now. A while. I've been blogging at www.stevelikestocurse.com for three and a half years or so now, and while most of my time is spent pissing and moaning about politics and pop culture, or making profane comics with Star Trek screencaps and action figures, I write the occasional wrestling article, too.
The last month or so, inspired by your recent all-time tag teams poll tournament, I've been writing a fantasy wrestling series about a tournament featuring 64 legends of wrestling from all over the world and all eras, summoned to the present thanks to the unexpected discovery of chronotons and tachyons by those clever guys working on the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. (I'm surprised it hasn't made more news, honestly.) It's a big and diverse group, including everyone from Ed "Strangler" Lewis and Rikidozan, all the way down to present-day darlings like Bryan Danielson and Go Shiozaki. It's been fun to write so far.
I'm four weeks in to what will eventually be a nine-week project (eight groups of eight, one per week, then the eight group-winners compete for the tournament title in week nine), and if you could find it in your great Canadian heart to favor me with a plug, I'd love to see what the rest of your readers think about it.
The results from groups one through four, as well as the subsequent episodes when I post them, can be found at:

Thanks for the time, Scott, and for all the good work over the years.

The ‘Captain Hindsight’ Retro Review of Halloween Havoc 1998
By red29
This show was played on WWE Classics on Demand this past month and I remember being so excited for this Supercard back in the fall of ’98. The Monday Night Wars were still up for grabs although the tide was certainly turning to the WWF. I had been watching wrestling religiously for a year at this point (started oddly enough with Starrcade ’97 at a friend’s house). I watched this originally from my college dorm room on a live internet stream from WCW.com, using a login/password from some IRCnet chatroom I think. That was pretty big for 1998. The point of this review is to see how this holds up eleven years later using my cynical jaded wrestling eyes. . Actually I’m a pretty positive guy and I WANT to enjoy what I’m watching. Anyway, I rate matches on the typical 5 * scale with your average match weighing in at **1/2. I did not dig up Scott’s original rant on this from the 411 or Pulse archives so anything that sounds familiar is strictly due to osmosis from reading all his stuff for the last eleven years (started on Wrestline.com). Let’s cue up the 24/7 montage…

Kane, Disc 2 (of 3) Review
Hey folks, ThatNickGuy here. Sorry I didn’t get this done sooner, but things have been a little hectic, lately, with work and getting ready to return to school. Anyway, here’s the second part and I’m hoping to get the third one done by next week. *crosses his fingers*
