The SmarK 24/7 Rant for WCW Bash at the Beach 2000

- Ugh, why do I punish myself with this stuff? Unfortunately the original rant is pretty crappy, so let's journey back to the era of Russo & Bischoff. On the bright side, I don't remember any of this shit in the slightest, so much like reruns on NBC, it's new to me! Now where's the alcohol…

- Live from Daytona Beach, FL. And presented by a full nelson!

- Your hosts are Tony, Scott Hudson and Mark Madden.

- Right off the bat I'm fucking annoyed because Tony says "sports entertainment" a million times, which sounds ridiculous on a show that's supposed to be the "alternative" to WWE at the time.

Hi Scott,
Regular reader, with a question about Jeff Jarrett. I saw some comments you made about him never really getting over, and I wondered why you thought so.
I always remember being really bored by him. When he fueded with Razor Ramon, I couldn't wait for the feud to end, simply so I could watch Razor face someone interesting.
Jarrett looked flashy, was obnoxious, but for some reason, was never really that entertaining. Also, probably the big question:
why do you think WWE and WCW continually tried so hard to make him a star.

Because he looks like a star, talks like a star, and carries himself like a star.  That being said, while he might come across as a star to the people who run wrestling, the people who PAY for wrestling just kind of didn't care.

I mean, I have nothing against Jeff Jarrett up to a certain point.  Goofy I-C champion?  No problem.  Annoying US champion?  Whatever.  World champion Jeff Jarrett?  I don't think so, Tim.  Really, that's all there is to it -- the ultimate example of a guy who was just pushed too far beyond what he carry on his back.  Double J was annoying but harmless, but "Slapnuts" was just boring as hell.  Either way, not World champ material, and certainly not someone to build a promotion around.
