More on the Wrestler

Sunday, January 25th, 2009

Great review from John Orquiola, making a lot of points I had in mind while doing my quickie review...

I especially liked his observation about how Randy puts forth a pro wrestling mentality to mundane things like playing Nintendo with a kid.  So very true.

Lame Plug

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

Hey Scott.  Lame request ahead...
Having written a lot of wrestling and video game reviews over the years and having no permanent location for them kind of sucked.
I wanted to be original so I opened up a Yuku forum at http://5star.yuku.com.  Starting new topics is disabled.  This was actually just a really easy (lazy) way to set up a list of all my reviews.
I currently have 65 WWE Shows/DVDs reviewed on there.  I tend to be more long winded then CRZ at times and snarkier then most.  And I also favor pitch-black humor so if that offends anyone don't bother.  You have to have a Yuku account to comment on them.  Otherwise, this is a somewhat ideal setup.

Consider your lame request granted!

Bribeless Plug

Monday, January 19th, 2009

Hey Scott, what's happenin' brah?
Long time reader, couple of times a writer, was hoping I could ask ya for a plug on the blog?
I currently own and run Elite Wrestling Online, a fairly respectable forum that we're currently in the process of expanding to cover a much wider array of topics, and also working on a website of the same nature (we're aiming for something like 411 or IP but a little more flashy).
EWO was created after the demise of WrestleMporium, which came from PWM, and RSM before that, but we've banded together and kept it all going as a group of 30 or so core members since mid 2005, and now I think we're just looking for a bit of new blood to freshen the place up a little.

In return for this plug I have nothing much to bribe you with, sadly, except the promise of buying Dungeon of Death when my local bookstore can get it for me, but then Australia has always been a bit slow.
Thanks for your time man,
Chet (jag_bjg)

I'm appalled you think that it takes a bribe to get a plug on my blog.

Not that it would HURT...

Bret plug

Hiya,
I wrote a column about my favorite wrestler:

I hope you enjoy it.

Indeed I shall.

Pop Culture plug

Sunday, January 4th, 2009

Hey Scott,
I never thought to ask you for a blog link request (probably because you likely get a shitload of them), but I suppose it can't hurt to ask. I'm a former 411mania writer currently operating your standard hobby/pop culture blog at http://rtldomain.blogspot.com, desperately trying to stay relevant. I kid, but not really. Anyone big on wrestling, videogames, movies and all that geeky stuff would (hopefully) get a kick out of it. A few warnings, however: no Star Wars, Star Trek or pretty much anything hardcore sci-fi, and I'm a hopeless Nintendo shill. But I'm guessing you'd know that by the time you loaded the page. I can't imagine why.
Keep up the good work here.

Enjoy the plug!

Forum plug

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

Hi Scott!

I was wondering if you could plug a new wrestling forum that's just opened up over at

www.Warned.net

It's an extremely close- knit community thus far, there's like 10 members, these things are SO hard to get up off the ground due to no other forums being willing to advertise (for obvious reasons). I've literally been successfull in advertising NOWHERE thus far. We'll be trying to keep the conversation at least semi- intelligent (so you won't find any OmGz Teh CenA had teh Best MovEZ!!11@##~ stuff). But yeah, keep up the good work, and if you manage to plug, thanks a million, I really appreciate it.

Well, the front page noting that the site is shutting down isn't really an effective strategy for getting new members, but enjoy the plug anyway.

Xmas plug

Sunday, December 21st, 2008

Can you plug my new blog? I just posted up my my top 10 favorite DC comic books of 2008. Here's the link, http://iequalratings.com/?p=7
Still very much a noob to wordpress and ironing out the layout and such, but I think I've come a long way from reading your netcop rants on mom's webtv back in '97. Yeah, I was one of those douche bags.
Thanks in advance dude, merry xmas.

And to all a good night!

More Yahtzee

Saturday, December 20th, 2008

So remember when I got you hooked on Zero Punctuation?
Well Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw and a few other Aussie gaming nerds/journalists have created a new television show that they're shopping the pilot around for.  You can view it at...
http://www.gamedamage.net
It's not perfect but you can see the potential.  And anyone who's followed the Duke Nukem Forever fiasco over the last... oh... decade is going to laugh their asses off during the course of it.
So get the word out and hopefully someone like G4 will pick it up.

Well good for Ben if they do.  Although that channel has gotten so bad that I actually canceled it.

Scottish plug

Monday, December 15th, 2008

And now, a word from our sponsor...

Also can you throw a plug on your site for my new site
http://www.RakebackResource.com and just let people know if they're
interested in playing online poker, or already play online poker - you
should never be playing without rakeback.

You bet!

Duelling book plugs

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

Hi, Scott!

Here's a link to my review of "Dungeon of Death:"

www.associatedcontent.com/article/1249534/wwe_chris_benoit_book_review_dungeon.html
I was hoping I could plug my own book, "This Side of the Mic." It's the story of how I became a pro wrestling announcer 15 years ago. It's full of stories from the Pittsburgh and Cleveland indies, as well as when I announced during the early years of Ring of Honor.

If your readers would like to purchase an autographed copy, they can e-mail me at gormanwriter@yahoo.com. I'll give them a discount if they say they heard of the book from Scott Keith. I sent you one, too, so I hope you enjoy it. Thanks!

Good luck with the book, and thanks for the review!
