Hey guys. I'm still not able to commit back to my SmackDown reviews. I've tried to watch the last two or three shows and everything seems slower than it was before. And oddly enough the show misses JR really putting over the younger guys.
I'm not ready to give up and I fully anticipate on going back to Smackdown after Sunday's PPV.
But I still want to do reviews again and after a trip to the bargain bin DVD rack I hit the motherlode of UFC fights. So I wanted to give you, the Princess supporters, the choice of which one to do and I'll pound it out sometime this evening or tomorrow morning.
We have UFC 62: Liddell vs. Ortiz 2; Griffin vs. Jardine along with Michael Bisping, Andrei Arlovsky, etc.
UFC 65: Matt Hughes vs. GSP 2; Tim Slyvia vs. Jeff Monson; Frank Mir, James Irvin, etc. etc.
UFC 71: Jackson vs. Liddell; Alexander vs. Jardine; Kalib Starns, etc. etc.
Have a great day guys!
Where did you find the bargain bin? I’m trying to collect all the numbered UFC events, and I’d like to be able to find a few of them cheap!
Big Lots. Seriously, I bought about 8 cards, the more recent stuff at $3 per.
Thank you! I’ll go check it out!
Good tip on the UFC DVD’s.
Let’s get UFC 66 (not 62, btw) because Tito makes his big return this weekend against Griffin, and both are on that card.
Go with UFC 65. The only stinker on the main card is Monson/Sylvia. You can watch the first round and know that the following rounds play exactly the same way.
The rest of the show has mostly T/KO finishes with one submission ending, so there will at least be some exciting fights on there. Plus it has my boy GSP finally winning the WW title.
I’m not sure what the distribution is like for Big Lots, but the one in my area had the “Liddell vs. Couture Trilogy” for 3 bucks. Which is not just all three fights, but all three ENTIRE SHOWS, plus the bonus disc for Liddell/Couture 3.
I highly suggest grabbing this if it’s there. As is the case with most movies trilogies, the second one is the best as Liddell v. Couture 2 also has Hughes v. Trigg 2 and an insane grappling exhibition of a fight with GSP vs. Mayhem Miller (of Bully Beatdown fame).
But, since this isn’t an option, I’d go with UFC 71. Seriously, though, everybody try to find the Trilogy at your local Big Lots, it’s a steal. UFC.com was dealing this dvd for 45 bucks.
WHAT?!?!!?!
I am going to scavenger through the bin at every Big Lots in the Tampa Bay area.
BTW UFC folk, I skipped purchasing UFC 80, which was B.J. Penn against Joe Stevenson and UFC 72 (Franklin vs. Okami). Either of those worth it?
And Big Lots distribution is really random and unpredictable. Sort of like an Ultimate Warrior promo times ten.
UFC 80 has 2 good fights. Penn’s doiminace over Joe Stevenson in a crimson mask affair, and Paul Kelly vs. Paul Taylor in a back and forth MMA exhibition. It’s also got Gabe Gonzaga in his patented quit-when-you’re-hit performance.
UFC 72 has Clay Guida vs. Tyson Griffin, which may be worth the price of admission by itself. The main is definitely a snoozer, but I haven’t seen any of the other fights recently enough to comment.
Hi Princess!
I love your writing! I’m sorry I haven’t commented, but I don’t like commenting here. (Nothing against anyone, I just have a difference of opinion on most things and want to stay away from fights.) Anyway, I like everything you write, so there’s nothing I’m looking forward to more than anything else! Just keep doing a great job! ^_^
sounds like an hhh fan to me.
