So I’m moving the UFC retro rants over to Heavy.com, where I’ll continue moving in order through the original shows.

“Rafael Carino (Jiu Jitsu) v. Matt Andersen (Warrior Training)
Warrior Training? Was he trained by the Ultimate Warrior? Because that would be pretty awesome, actually. He’s apparently a second degree black belt in this discipline that no one’s ever heard of, truly a spectacular accomplishment for a guy who looks like the Sherminator from American Pie.”
You made my day Scott, this made me laugh out loud.
Third degrees get the bicep ties. Fourth get airbrushed jackets. Fifth get muscle tights. Sixth go batshit nuts and talk about “queerin’”. Seventh get an unfavorable and jaded DVD. Eighth get into a Hall of Fame of some sorts.
what about the logo on the chest?
I need to do some digging in the Walmart bins and see if they have any of these. Being new to UFC, for some reason I prefer these old shows to the newer stuff I’ve seen on Spike. It’s just so much more more raw and intense.
Does anybody know off hand which UFCs were not officially released on video? I’ve heard about the ‘dark days’ and was hoping to maybe track down some PPV recordings.
Also, one other question: I was watching Al Snow’s 1998 shoot and he mentions cutting a promo for the camera after Severn’s fight at UFC IV. He said it was something off-color that was cut from the commercial release. Anyone know what he said?
UFC 23 through to 29 weren’t released on official home video but if you’re in the UK you can get them from FightDVD.co.uk in two-disc sets.
UFC 38 (and 37.5 if you want to count it) is the only two that have not been released on DVD to my knowledge. You can get 38 on VHS but that’s about it. There are box sets of 21-30 and 31-37 that you can get on Amazon, and there are usually a few people selling them on Ebay as well. 39-42 were previously hard to find and expensive, but they have since released these in a box set as well. 57 is next to impossible to find by itself, but you can get the Liddell/Couture trilogy which includes 43, 52, and 57. Also, don’t buy from Sherdog!! Way too expensive. Stick to Amazon or find a deal on Ebay. Hope this helps.
warrior Training <<< SAFTA.
What was Ranger Stott’s style? R.I.P. or something? None of them stack up to Joe Son Do.
“Ranger” Stott was allegedly 30-0 in “Army Bear Pitfights”. Apparently he didn’t learn to keep from getting kneed in the face during these supposed fights.
I love the Kitao story. He shoots here, he gets KO’d in a wrestling match there, he gets kicked out of a promotion here… then he opens his own pro wrestling company, creatively titled “Kitao Pro Wrestling.” What a fucking egomaniac.
Apparently this site is blocked at work so I won’t get to read them anymore. I find it odd that you’re not posting them both places.
