And the finals are…

So after 64 teams and seemingly endless polls, here’s the final showdown…

- The Hart Foundation is your first finalist, crushing the British Bulldogs with 67% of the vote, probably thanks to a crooked refereeing job from Danny Davis.

- And in a stunning result by my count, with a 52% upset win, your final match is:

This vote will automatically close on November 11 about 9:00 EST, maybe sooner if it's a blowout one way or the other. Good luck to both teams!

    I got the Harts.

  2. Max says:

That’s what you get for hiring Vince Russo to book the tournament. SWERVES~!

  3. 5 Star List says:

If this was the quarter finals or something then I may have chosen E&C over HF, but I can’t in good conscious pick E&C as the best team ever, so I’m going with HF for the finals.

EDGE AND CHRISTIAN OVER THE STEINERS?!!!?!?? I want a recount.

  5. myfactsareright says:

Oh and do you guys remember when Holllywood Hogan hit an Ambulance with a Semi?

8 years ago I thought it was pretty cool now I think it’s really stupid.

    • nwa88 says:

LOL. I don’t know what the hell they were thinking with that, one of the stupidest and dopey things the WWF/E ever tried to do. I remember watching that episode of RAW with my friends and thinking it was such a great angle between Hogan and Rock and then I thought just about everybody was going to turn on the whole thing after they did the ambulance stunt.

I think Scott put it best:

“Afterwards, Hogan and Rock make nice-nice, as presumably Hogan is all “Sorry about the attempted murder, brother” and Rock is all “It’s cool, I didn’t sell the injury anyway”"

      • Alexander says:

One of my favorite lines from any Scott Keith rant.

I like Edge and Christian a great deal, but having them go over the Steiners is not the most pleasant of swerves.

Hope we can have the ultimate tournament soon: Raw Guest Hosts.

      • myfactsareright says:

Yeah I mean watch the first time the semi hits the ambulance and The Rock returns with a little bandage on his ribs.

  6. The Fuj says:

Scott, I dont even know why you are holding the polls until the 11th. This is going to get ugly pretty quickly.

If the Harts don’t ABSOLUTELY CRUSH E+C within 4 hours of this opening… I’ll eat my hat… again…

  7. Comdukakis says:

someone’s stuffing the ballot. I loved Edge and Christian, I really did. But I can name teams that deserve to be in the finals rather than them: Bulldogs, Midnight Express, Rock n Roll Express, Demolition, Road Warriors, Arn/Tully, Arn/Ole, Steiners, and Fantastics.

  8. Haha555 says:

As far as I am concerned, this tourney lost all cred with E&C in the finals. Any person who voted E&C over the Steiners probably only started watching wrestling like in 2000, 2001.

    • Mad Dog Joe IS The Mask says:

what if you’re booking this match in 2009 ??

    • jevan says:

“This tourney lost all cred?” It’s a fantasy tournament spanning decades all for fun.

Jesus, you guys are taking this way too seriously. It’s a bunch of smart marks picking their favorite teams with little rhyme or reason other than “I like them.”

You guys are worse than fan boys bitching about Marvel saying Captain America could beat Superman. It’s a fake tournament about a fixed sport. Get over it.

  9. MadmanJack says:

Okay, Edge and Christian are a good, solid, Canadian team, and I can buy them at their peak stealing a victory over the Steiners, who when they were together were meat-and-potato babyfaces, right?

Still, I see a Hart Attack to Christian, then Bret somehow counters a spear from Edge into the Sharpshooter. (I presume it’s like the Straight Shooter/Canadian Maple Leaf rollthrough, only cooler.)

  10. Citizen Snips says:

Guess I’ll have to carry the Edge and Christian torch alone :(

  11. thatnickguy says:

Harts are taking this. And with damn well good reason. The only threat they honestly had were Owen/Bulldog and the Bulldogs…and they trounced the former.

As far as the Steiner/E&C argument goes? Eh, I voted E&C and against Steiners the whole way through (I think). Honestly not a big fan of them. Could be because I think Scott Steiner’s an effing douche in real life.

    • flair4dagold says:

And is Edge is such a sweetheart.

      • MarSolo says:

Sure Edge is kind of a scumbag for screwing his supposed best friend’s girlfriend, but it’s so hard to feel bad for Matt anymore after the way he handled it.

Matt took his case to the Internet and cried about it for weeks on MySpace. Not to mention even passing up a chance to participate in the first MITB, and then getting released.

Edge also never asked Miss Jackie to blow him on live television. Or scared so many people because of his potential roid rage that he basically got to the top of WCW on backstage fear alone.

      • thatnickguy says:

Basically what Mar said: Edge ain’t no saint, but comparing him to Scotty, he sure as heck looks like one. He boned his friend’s girlfriend, but he didn’t legit try to kill a guy live on TV (or at least try to fuck him up) or drive smashing through a tollbooth.

The difference is Edge is a douche, but Scotty’s psychotic.

        And not Canadian. :p

  12. The Brain says:

Not sure why everyone is so upset about the Steiners getting beat.

Note that there is absolutely no criteria for the tournament. It would be different if there were some sort of criteria we were supposed to be basing our votes on, whether it’s pure technical ability, dominance, longevity, main event experience, mic skills, who you would book to win, etc. But there’s not.

Which means it basically comes down to favorites. Which means all the Steiners’ credentials don’t really mean much unless those credentials make them your favorites.

Personally, I enjoy the 87-94 time period of wrestling the most, but even I voted for E & C. I like them more. Doesn’t mean the Steiners weren’t an awesome team. But I cared a whole lot more about E & C, even though they were from an era where wrestling wasn’t quite as important to me as it had been a decade earlier.

And let’s be honest, there’s a reason most tournaments are seeded. Things would be different if the brackets were organized differently. Just so happens LOD and Demolition ran into each other relatively early on. With different brackets/match-ups, who knows what would have happened.

Still, it’s been a fun tournament. When the Harts win this, I’ll consider it partial vindication for the overly lopsided result of the recent Bret/Shawn debate.

    • Citizen Snips says:

That’s it, basically. I grew up on Air Force bases, with only the Armed Forces Network for TV and they only showed WWF programming. (Including the occasional Wrestlemania, which would run from like 11 at night until 3am.) Hence, I never saw NWA/WCW stuff until the mid-nineties. So I appreciate the Steiners, but they don’t really have any special significance for me. Meanwhile, Edge and Christian entertained the hell out of me in their time together, and that’s what I based my vote on.

  13. Barbarash says:

Well If I had a perfect final it would of been E and C vs Hart Foundation. My two fave teams of all time… I’m glad the public in general agrees with me.

    Yay!
