Unashamedly cheering for The Outsiders here.

I know Outsiders will win, but I still voted for the Dream Team.

And NAO v Heat was a toughie. Booker was really talented back then, but really, Heat never had a single good/memorable match as a team whereas NAO had a few plus they drew more money.

I had the same problem with the Heat vs NAO match-up too. I always liked Harlem Heat but the NAO entertained me more often back then. Tough call.

Oh and Outsiders all the way in this division defnitely (although I do like Edge and Christian alot here too.)

The Superpowers def by The Quebecers – Johnny Polo’s cane comes into play as Jaques pins Koloff… a popular finish no?

Edge & Christian def The Public Enemy – There’s a chance that these two teams squared off in 99 isn’t there? Judging from that run E & C would be easy winners.

The Dream Team def by The Outsiders – Even if it was 1985 I’d say the Outsiders take it. If it were 1991 however this would be your WCW Saturday Night tag team squash. Jackknife to Beefcake finishes.

Harlem Heat def by The New Age Outlaws – This is a tough one… although the NAO have beaten the APA in 3 minutes on PPV before and they’d probably win this match the same way they won at the 2000 Royal Rumble.

The Megapowers def The Natural Disasters – The team that would win it all if I were choosing. Channel the Twin Towers vs Megapowers match from early 1989 on Main Event only with less handicap heat session on Savage. Bodyslam, Big Elbow & Legdrop is more than enough to put away Typhoon on this occasion.

Ivan & Nikita Koloff def by The Nasty Boys – Nasty Boys were more lucky than good on their best day and Jimmy Hart’s influence would be telling. Nikita would throttle all that stood before him before falling to a motorcycle helmet shot.

The East-West Connection def Miz & Morrison – Adrian Adonis pre-flab and with ‘The Body’ waiting in the wings would be a little too much to handle. Adonis with the pin on Miz after replicating his suplex reversal into a DDT move that he did to Cpl Kirchner at Wrestling Classic.

Owen Hart & Yokozuna def by The Midnight Express – Jim Cornette would be forced to choose wouldn’t he? He’d go with Bobby and Stan surely? Owen would fall ultimately to Eaton’s Alabama Jam after Stan took out Yoko’s knee with Jim’s tennis racquet.

PE did have a half-cup of coffee in WWE (doing the “no one wants them here” angle) but I don’t think they ever faced E&C.

    Very interesting match ups.

-E/W connection. Long time AWA champs. Who remembers a single good match with Miz and Morrison? That’s more the WWE’s fault than there’s; but still.
-Midnight Express. Well oiled wrestling machine.
-Ivan & Nikita. I HATE the Nasties.
-Megapowers. The Natural Disasters are a fine power team and Earthquake has history with Hogan; but Hogan pulls his “creative control” card to advance to the next round.
-NAO. Stevie Ray may be one of the worst wrestlers ever.
-Outsiders/Dream Team. Draw for me. The Dream Team was pretty darn good and the Outsiders were never much of a real tag team.
-E&C. This would have to be a tables match for sure.
-Quebecers. One of my all time favorite teams and they personified “team” with their moves.

    Can’t wait for the results!!

    My picks:
Superpowers/Quebecers – Too much Dusty for even the great Johnny Polo to overcome. Not a fan of the SPs, but I went with them.

Edge & Christian v. The Public Enemy – E&C did just about everything PE did, and better. Easy call.

The Dream Team v. The Outsiders – Too much Beefcake, which is unfortunate for Valentine, who gets powerbombed after a Brutus blunder.

Harlem Heat v. The New Age Outlaws – I know the Outlaws were entertaining, but I easily see Booker T Sidekicking Road Dogg’s head off for the win here.

The Megapowers v. The Natural Disasters – The Nats were worse than the Twin Towers, and you know how that went. MPs go on.

Ivan & Nikita Koloff v. The Nasty Boys – ‘85 Nikita would just be too much for the Nasties.

The East-West Connection v. Miz & Morrison – Oddly enough, I think Miz and Morrison’s current incarnations would do better against Ventura & Adonis. But, this ain’t them, so The Body goes over.

Owen Hart & Yokozuna v. The Midnight Express – The MX would tee off on Owen, but Yoko is JUST TOO FAT for them to hold off. In the end, Cornette makes a deal with himself and screws over Mr. Fuji to give the Midnights the win.

Edge and Christian for the whole damn thing!

It’s going to get very interesting next round though.

  7. This is very fun! I hope we do a singles tourney next. I’d kinda like to see one for jobbers as well although I’m not sure what the criteria would be…most likely to lose? Best selling ability? Best gimmick? Loudest grunter? Best worked injury? (I confess I’m thinking of Iron Mike Sharpe on those last two.) Anybody got any ideas?

  8. Comdukakis says:

It is fun but I’d like to see more attention to seeding. Not that Scott owes us his time to do that, but it really sucked to see the Rock n’ Roll Express have to face Demolition so early. Both should have been top 4 seeds in any bracket and shouldn’t have faced each other until the sweet sixteen.

  9. Haha555 says:

I wonder what team if any at all will stop the Mega Powers.

Now just think if the Power Trip was in this too (Austin & Triple H 2001). Mega Powers vs Power Trip will draw big bucks if that really took place.

  10. hbone81 says:

Only one team in the tourney was undefeated. Barring any explosions, The Mega Powers win.

  11. muggies247 says:

the MegaPowers cannot last. I don’t understand why the criteria wasn’t a little more exclusive, I mean, shouldn’t every entry have been together 5 years or at least won a tag title? The MegaPowers obviously achieved neither. Now, Savage is my favorite wrestler ever, but this teams’ allowance into this prestigious tournament mocks the achievements of teams like The Natural Disasters and Sheepwackers, who never won titles but were able to cross promotions hand in hand. I thank you
