WWF MONDAY NIGHT RAW
Vince hypes the IC title match between Dean Douglas and Razor Ramon as well as Marty Jannetty vs Sid. Also, Shawn Michaels’s “personal physician” Jeffrey Unger will update us on the condition of HBK.
Your hosts are Vince McMahon and Jerry Lawler
Bob Holly vs British Bulldog w/Jim Cornette
Brief lock-up is followed by a shoulderblock from the Bulldog. Holly floats over on a press slam attempt and lands a kick to the gut. A hip-toss is followed by a scoop slam. Holly lands a pair of clotheslines and the Bulldog ducks outside. Back inside the ring, Holly catches Bulldog in a powerslam then goes to work on the arm. Bulldog presses Holly and drops him crotch first over the ropes. Lawler states how Hart has never beat the Bulldog in an one-on-one match. Standing vertical suplex by the Bulldog, who then stops to repeat the Hitman’s “Best there is…” routine. Holly gets a sunset flip for two before running into a knee. Slam by the Bulldog who follows that with a leg drop. Holly ducks a clothesline and manages to land a dropkick. Another dropkick by Holly gets two. He hammers on the Bulldog in the corner and gets two. Holy with some kicks then gets caught by the Bulldog who hits the running powerslam for the win. (5:06) *1/4
Thoughts: Bulldog was either hurt or just didn’t care at this point in his run. He looked pretty bad in this match. Holly got some offense and looked okay.
Clips of Bob Backlund attacking Bret Hart on Raw last week during the Brother Love Show. Also shown is Backlund attacking Jim Ross on this past week’s episode of Superstars.
Lawler interviews Backlund, who was campaigning for president in the stands. Backlund states hart is like the rest of the “plebians.” Backlund is cut off as they go to commercial.
Brooklyn Brawler vs “Making a Difference” Fatu
They show clips of Backulnd during the break looking for the sound engineer. Brawler attacks Fatu from behind. He catches Fatu with a knee to the gut. Brawler lands a few shots before getting caught in a side slam. Fatu goes up top and lands a splash for the win. NR (1:04)
Thoughts: Squash for a character that no one cared about.
Dok Hendrix is talking about In Your House, as Backlund is shown attacking the sound engineer. Dok states that Owen Hart will face Diesel at In Your House.
Intercontinental Title Match
Dean Douglas vs Razor Ramon (Champion)
Douglas slaps Ramon, who retaliates by throwing his toothpick in the face of the Dean. Douglas attacks from behind and strips the belt off of Ramon. He lands some punches but gets caught and Ramon gets a fallaway slam. Ramon clotheslines Douglas to the outside. Razor follows him and tosses him back in the ring. Ramon gets a hiptoss and works on the arm. The camera shows a piece of tape on the boot of Ramon which reads “Shawn.” Douglas fights out and lands a weak looking bulldog from the top. Douglas with a slam and we go to commercial.
(Commercial)
Douglas uses the ropes for leverage on an abdominal stretch. Ramon reverses into his own abdominal stretch. Douglas escapes and goes up top and gets a crossbody, which Razor rolls through for two. Clothesline by Ramon, who then signals for the Razor’s edge. Ramon gets him up and hits the move for the win. (4:32) ¾*
Thoughts: Douglas really came off looking pathetic after this. A weak title match.
Brother Love Show with King Mabel. Mabel states how not only was he the first man to pin the Undertaker and also the first to put him out of action, but he will be the first to beat him in a casket match. Brother Love announces he has a surprise for Mabel, who states that he does not like surprises. The Undertaker’s music hits as a hooded individual wheels out a casket. Mabel looks worried. Love exposes the man underneath the hood and it is revealed to be Mo. He then reveals a custom made casket just for Mabel. The casket is covered with graffiti. Mabel promises a victory at In Your House. Pretty much a waste of time.
Backstage Razor Ramon is giving Marty Jannetty advice for his match.
Plug for the “Raw Bowl,” which will take place on New Years Day
Sid w/Ted Dibiase vs Marty Jannetty
Befroe the match, that annoying douchebag Barry Dibinski is shown selling life-sized cardboard cut-outs off Diesel and the Undertaker for $25.00. That was the guy who last week was selling denim jackets. Jannetty attacks Sid from behind. He gets a crossbody for two. He repeatedly slams Sid’s head on the canvas as Sid lays on his back. That looked kinda funny actually. Sid catches Jannetty’s crossbody attempt and slams him to the mat. Sid pounds on Jannetty in the corner and chokes him out repeatedly. Jannetty gets his knees up on a charge by Sid and gets a blockbuster. Ramon is shown watching backstage
(Commercial)
Clothesline by Sid and Jannetty does the 360 sell. Jannetty punches back and tries to get him over on a sunset-flip. He cant get him over and again his clotheslined down, with another 360 sell by Jannetty. Sid gets a chinlock on Marty. He eventually fights out but gets tossed outside. Dibiase kicks Jannetty outside behind the ref’s back. The Kid comes out and attacks all behind th ref’sazor ramon comes out and chases the Kid. The ref rings the bell for the DQ (5:09) ½*. Ramon chases the Kid in the stands to the back of the arena. Sid powerbombs Marty and walks to the back.
Thoughts: This was to set up a future tag match. Nothing special really.
Todd Pettengill interviews the personal physician of HBK, Jeffrey Unger. The Dr. mentions how Shawn was suffering some Post Concussion Syndrome. He mentions how some aptients can take up to three years to recover. He states Shawn has abnormal neurology tests and is unsure whether he can come back to compete. He then states Shawn might never wrestle again.
Vince McMahon voice is heard over a montage of the stars of the WWF. He mentions how the stars can feel pain and are driven by their desire. They play some sappy music during the package
WCW Monday Nitro
11/27/95
Live from Phoenix, AZ
Your hosts are Eric Bischoff, Steve McMichael, and Bobby Heenan
Bischoff plugs the main event for tonight, which will be Lex Luger vs Randy Savage for the WCW World Title. Bischoff states how 48 minutes ago, the WCW executive committee has put Flair, Hogan, and the Giant on probation.
WCW World Tag-Team Titles
American Males vs Harlem Heat w/ Sister Sherri (Champions)
The announcers bring up how the Males beat Harlem Heat a few months ago on Nitro. Riggs and Stevie Ray start out. Stevie pounds on Riggs in the corner to the delight of the crowd. Riggs slides underneath Stevie and lands a dropkick. Back suplex by Stevie, who then tags Booker. Riggs gets a flying forearm and tags Bagwell who slingshots in with a shoulder tackle. Bagwell pounds on Booker and gets a sunset flip for two. Col. Robert Parker comes out with a present for Sherri. Riggs tags in and gets a dropkick on Booker after a series of reversals. Stevie Ray tags in and almost drops Riggs on a powerslam attempt. Parker gives the gift to Sherri and we see that it is a ring. They then start to kiss. Booker misses an elbow drop but lands a kick. Sherri and Col. Parker leave together and the camera then shows Harlem heat double team Riggs. Back suplex gets two from Stevie Ray. Booker tags in and lands a spinning bicycle kick to Riggs. Booker jaws at NBA player A.C. Green who is in the crowd. Riggs gets a sunset-flip for two. Stevie tags back in and the Heat land a double gordbuster. Booker gets a sideslam, but Riggs gets his knees up on a splash attempt. He finally tags Bagwell who runs wild. Fisherman suplex gets two. The ref yells at Riggs as Booker hits the Harlem Hangover, which gets a good-sized pop from the crowd, for the win. (7:47) *1/2
Thoughts: Sloppy tag-match. Stevie was never really any good in the ring and Booker, although sloppy, looked the best in the match.
Mean Gene is with Sting and Lex Luger. He mentions how at Starcade, they will face off with Ric Flair in a triangle match. Sting mentions how he has been friends with Lex for ten years, but does not agree with his alliance to Jimmy Hart. He also mentions how if he beats Savage tonight, they could face off for the belt. Lex states he will become the next WCW world champion tonight.
Sting vs Kurasawa
Sting ducks a clothesline and lands a dropkick. He clotheslines Kurasawa to the outside. Kurasawa drags Sting outside and then tosses him back in the ring. He lands a knee then delivers some stomps. He works the arm for a while, as the announcers mention of Kurasawa broke the arm of Hawk in his debut match. Sting with a few turnbuckle smashes then lands a Stinger Splash. He gets him in the Scorpion Death Lock for the win. (2:37) ¼*
Thoughts: Kurasawa was a decent sized Japanese guy who liked to work the arm if I remember correctly. This match was like a Saturday Night Main Event Match.
The Giant w/Taskmaster and Jimmy Hart vs Scott Norton
Bischoff mentions that next week, Hogan and Sting will team up to face Ric Flair & Arn Anderson. Giant shoves Norton during a lock-up attempt. He shoves him again then slams him. Giant gets a knee-lift and puts on a side headlock. Norton picks up the Giant and holds him for a bit before getting an atomic drop. Norton with a few turnbuckle smashes and hits some clotheslines but still cannot knock the Giant down. He goes up top but his caught and the Giant puts him in the chokeslam for the win. (2:44) ½*
Thoughts: Squash, but both guys looked decent and Norton displayed some impressive power with the atomic drop.
Mean Gene calls out Ric Flair, but Charles Barkley comes out instead. Flair eventually follows and they both go to the ring. Barkley states that Flair is his man, no matter what anyone says. Flair calls Barkley the best player in the NBA and Barkley kisses up to the hometown fans and says they better respect the Nature Boy, which draws boos from the Phoenix crowd.
WCW World Championship Match
Lex Luger w/Jimmy Hart vs Randy Savage (Champion)
They stall for roughly a minute. Savage attacks and rakes Luger’s eyes across the ropes. He chokes out Lex in the corner. Savage ducks a charge in the corner but then gets caught with a clothesline. Savage ducks outside and sells the arm, injured from last week’s attack. Luger leaps off the apron but his met with a fist. Bischoff promises the show will end when the match does, no matter what the time. Savage gets an axehandle from the top rope for two. Luger backs Savage in the corner and lands some knees. Savage with a turnbuckle smash then catches Lex with an elbow for two. Luger fights back and gets a suplex. He misses an elbow and Savage goes to work on the arm.
(Commercial)
Savage is still working on the arm as both men are fighting on the floor. Savage rolls Luger back in the ring. Macho with an armbar as Hart is on the apron yelling into the megaphone. Luger makes the ropes but Savage continues to abuse the arm of Luger. Small package gets two for Macho. Macho puts on a hammerlock then chokes out Lex with his foot. Luger gets tossed to the floor. Savage followes and whips Lex into the post. Luger manages to avoid Savage’s axehandle from the apron. Back in the ring, Luger stomps Savage while selling the arm. Turnbuckle smash by Lex is followed by a clothesline. Cover by Lex gets two. Luger drops a few elbows, despite holding his arm in pain. Each man is selling their arm. Bischoff says if you like to watch action you are watching Nitro and the rest is all “gaga.” Both men collide and Savage is first to his feet. Luger manages to toss Savage with one arm. Savage reverses a whip and sends Luger into the guardrail. Both men are in the ring and Savage lands a clothesline. Hart removes the padding from one of the turnbuckles. Savage reverses a whip and Luger’s head bounces off the exposed buckle and in the process he backs into the ref, knocking him out. Savage hits the elbow drop off the top rope. Flair runs out and hits Savage with brass knuckles. He struts up the aisle and walks into Hogan. He chases Ric into the ring. Hogan breaks up the pin attempt by Luger and the ref rings the bell. (14:07) *1/4. Hogan grabs Hart and drags him into the ring. He grabs Luger and looks for approval to the crowd before hitting him. Sting runs in and pulls away Lex, but gets hit accidentally by the Hulkster.
Thoughts: Pretty lame match. Just brawling and Luger isn’t the best brawler on the planet. I will admit Hogan punching Sting by accident was quite well done.
Mean Gene is with Hogan, Sting, and Savage. Hogan questions were Sting’s alliance lands. Sting states he is with Hogan and even though he does not agree with Lex and Hart, he will not desert his friend. Sting asks Hogan why puts down Luger as he does not put down Savage. Sting states he will get Luger away from both men as they all shake hands to ends the segment.
The announcers all give their thoughts on the previous segment.
Final Thoughts: On RAW, none of the matches stood out. They had plugged matches for the In Your House PPV and nothing was really memorable. They played out the Shawn Michaels injury well, and all of the announcers wanted to get an interview with HBK. On Nitro, they defended two championships. At this time, the Television and United States Title were never use on Nitro. They continued to do the angle with all of the main event guys and most of the show was dominated by that again. They had much more wrestling than RAW and more meaningful matches as well. I give the edge to Nitro, but neither show was all that great.

I think the last 3 or 4 Nitros I’ve seen on 24/7 have ended with Sting, Hogan and Macho having a heart-to-heart about who to trust with Mean Gene.
Man, this was the most ANNOYING time to be a fan — both companies were pretty bad. I’d actually just started watching wrestling again in August 1995 after having stopped in August 1992. Watching the companies take cheap shots at each other was fun though.
My favorite dig so far is Mongo making fun of a WWF pay per view: “In your house? More like in the outhouse.”
And I’m really looking forward to Madusa dumping her title in the trash.
Yeah, I wonder if they’ll even show it?
Considering that they’ve shown/whined about it on a couple of DVD releases, including the recent WCW one, I’d say yes.
Goddamn. Honestly, I think Mongo McMicahel is hands down, the WORST pro-wrestler, or person ever involved in pro-wrestling. He couldn’t talk, he couldn’t wrestle…and did anyone see Bound For Glory IV? He couldn’t even fucking REFEREE right! It was driving me insane, and you could see the wrestlers were ready to slap this chubby wank. He’s a fucking hack, and I’ve always hated him.
