More Fun with Linda

Man, y’all almost lost my services this morning, as my laptop is now a Gateway paperweight (along with my 50% completed Star Trek Season 2 review) and this morning my monitor finally decided to die after slowly getting LCD cancer for the past 4 months or so.  Luckily I was able to replace it with a brand new one and thus keep all my readers from having to find their entertainment elsewhere.

Anyway, on with the mail…

http://community.livejournal.com/ontd_political/4421910.html
Apparently the WWE is using Linda's run for elected audience to make another round to scrub all WWE material from Youtube, this time with them targetting clips from all of the really batshit crazy angles they've done over the years that would be used against Linda. Stuff like Katey Vick, Edge and Lita live sex celebration, etc...

Well, they’re certainly within their rights to do so, especially since they run both an online and a TV channel featuring nothing but their library clips and they might still wish people to pay money for those.  I mean, yeah, we know the real reason for their actions, but I’m with WWE on this one.  This is only the smallest bit of heat Linda is going to face, however.  I mean, just watching the political commercials and seeing what kind of dirt people dig up for the smallest elections, it’s obvious that someone is gonna run a smear campaign and destroy her.

Its hard to see why Linda is doing this. She is running as a Republican in a seat which is solidly Dem and frankly she little chance of even getting through the Republican Primary, even less winning the general election.

Two years from now this will have joined the WBF and XFL as another MaMahon attempt to do something in the real world which cost them a shedload of money and ended in humiliation. Still it could be fun for a few months while the other candidates pile humiliation on her.

  2. Charlie says:

The one I want sent to her opponents is the one where Stephanie said “I know we’ll beat the terrorists just like my father beat the government.”

    You sank my fucking battleship.

    • TAFKA TVs Tim says:

Nah, the real battleship sinker would be the clip from the McMahon DVD with Stephanie describing how Vince wanted to be the father of her unborn child…in storyline, of course. And the match from the same set where Vince beats the hell out of her live on PPV? Icing on the cake.

“What the hell kind of family did I marry into?!?” — HHH, shooting when he wasn’t supposed to be shooting.

  3. hurrifan123 says:

Speaking of their online service…am I the only one who finds it a better service month in and out? I canceled VOD a couple months ago because of repetition and I felt WWEClassics.com production values were better.

Seriously JRs Pick, Introducing and Generations are on par with anything put out on DVD.

  4. justbringit says:

Show any random five minutes of the “McMahon” DVD and you have more than enough to sink Linda.

I’m not for censorship, but I have no problem if WWE wants to get rid of crap like Live Sex celebrations, Katie Vick, the infamous segment with Trish having to strip and bark, and every clip of Vince playing tonsil hockey with a diva. All of those things made me ashamed to be a fan.

And for the guy that mentioned Stephanie’s 9/11 comment, thanks for reminding me of that. She still hasn’t lived that one down in the eyes of many. I think WWE has already done their best to make sure that’s been eliminated though. Can’t find it anywhere online.

  5. Barbarash says:

WWE are gonna need a gigantic closet to hold all those skeletons. I hope Linda loses and badly because maybe it will be a reality check on what she/The rest of the Mcmahons (minus Shane) need to concentrate on.

I wouldn’t vote for Linda if I lived in CT, but we need some perspective here. We’re ripping into her because of shitty and/or tasteless storylines, while CT voted Ted Kennedy in as senator for years and he basically killed someone. Also, Chris Dodd is a crook. I’m pretty sure that Linda has lived a crime free life, except for her acting on WWE tv…that’s a crime.

    • TAFKA TVs Tim says:

True, but in politics image is everything and actual facts mean very little. Teddy’s political career in Massachusetts was saved by the power of the Kennedy name, his brother’s political powerbrokers and advisors, and of course his father’s money. But on a national level, his career was finished and despite several attempts at mounting a campaign he would never even come close to being President. (See this link for more on that: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Mudd). And I’m sure Dodd has a political machine that keeps him protected as well. Most longtime politicians do.

The thing is, the majority of people in the world are pretty stupid and/or gullible. They tend to believe most of what they hear without question, especially when it comes to television and the news. And if her opponents and the media hammer home the ‘fact’ that she was in charge of a company that promoted tasteless smut to children and that her husband is a sleazy carny who dealt drugs and drove people to their deaths, she’ll be tainted by association and that’s more than enough to sink her campaign. It doesn’t really matter what the actual facts are in a political campaign these days, because image is everything and Linda’s handlers know this and are acting accordingly. So she’s trying to distance herself from the company (and quite frankly, her family) as much and as quickly as possible. But at this point, it’s like a snail trying to outrun a cheetah.

      • flair4dagold says:

I understand that image is everything. My comment was directly to those of us that post here. It’s not like i’m revealing anything earth shattering, just was trying to add a little perspective.

      • hayden says:

“It doesn’t really matter what the actual facts are in a political campaign these days”

“These days” probably isn’t necessary there.

    • Phils says:

Don’t get me wrong – I agree that politics would probably be better place if Chris Dodd wasn’t a Senator, but that doesn’t mean that his machine won’t drag Linda through the mud if her “fellow” Republicans don’t get there first.

Even if the fed manages to get everything off the web, anyone wanting to damage Linda can start with the MaMahon’s appearances in front of the House Committee where Vince seemed to be under the impression he was back in front of Bob Costas.

Also she is in a no win position as far as being in charge of the fed is concerned. Last time i checked she had been the CEO. So she either gets damned for being the CEO of a corporation peddling male on femail violence marketed at children, or she tries to make out it was just an honory title which trashes her election plank as an experienced business-woman.

Best of all, now the fed doesn’t sell its own advertising, anyone could buy air time during either Raw or Smackdown to run attack adds against her. Not that this would be good use of money, but it would certainly be nice to see Vince’s reaction.

  7. Jack Landsman says:

I’m not a close follower of Connecticut politics, but my guess is the base of the GOP there isn’t nearly as socially conservative as other parts of the country. Linda’s greatest handicap, it seems, comes in the form of candidates with far more name ID, grassroots support, and other relevant types of political connections. It’s not 1980 or 1994. I seriously doubt if Linda were able to–somehow!–capture the Republican nod, her connection with WWE would fatally cripple her against Chris Dodd in what may wind up as a Republican wave in 2010. Dodd’s financial foibles are far more relevant than what WWE puts out, quite successfully, as entertainment.

  8. Comdukakis says:

Christopher Dodd is a tool, but it was only through the bailout that people learned he was in the backpocket of the financial industry. The problem with that is that you are crazy if you think any Republican in the Northeast is any less in the backpocket of the financial industry. And with the Republicans you can add the health insurance industry, the NRA, the oil companies, and usually the Christian right.

As for Ted Kennedy, he had personal issues but he was a highly effective Senator. He was one of the few that reached across the aisle and worked in a bipartisan fashion since 1994 and Gingrich’s contract with America swept in ever growing partisan congressmen. At the same time he voted for the issues that Democrats cared about while representing a primarily democratic state. Why wouldn’t he be reelected?

    • TheDDG says:

Ted Kennedy drunkenly killing someone (and not seeking help while she still may been able to be saved) while his pregnant wife sat at home can be summed up as “personal issues?” Okay, pal. As long he agrees with your politics, right?

While we’re on the subject, could you maybe offer an example of Kennedy “reaching across the aisle?” This is the same guy who wrote and passed a bill preventing the Governor of Massachusetts from appointing an interim Senator (when Kerry was running for President and Romney was the sitting governor), then did an abrupt about-face and had the bill repealed when he knew he was dying, because there was a Democrat in the Governor’s office. Flat-out scumbag.

      • Comdukakis says:

I could look up some stuff but by the tone of your post there isn’t a whole lot of point. We’ll agree to disagree and keep the dialogue here friendly.

  9. KJP says:

Honestly? The odds that Linda is going to become a serious enough candidate to be worth anyone’s time and effort to smear, are pretty slim. True, you don’t go into a campaign with the idea that you’re NOT going to reach that stage, so they take the precautions, but it’s really premature to say that that’s a sure thing to happen to Linda.

You only bother to smear the people who are true threats. That’s how you know that, despite all the jokes, they were taking Sarah Palin very seriously.

    • Charlie says:

I took Sarah Palin VERY seriously. That’s why I voted for Barack Obama.

And now I have a shirt that reads “I FUCKED SARAH PALIN” on the front and on the back it says “BY VOTING FOR BARACK OBAMA!”

Wore it to the county fair in my 70% republican district lol. Wasn’t very popular.

Quick Sarah Palin joke: What’s the difference between her mouth and her cunt? Only some of the things that come out of her cunt are retarded.

    • Comdukakis says:

naah, they smeared Dan Quayle too. And trust me, no one took him seriously. Even the Republicans didn’t feign interest in him running for president in 96. He dropped out quickly. On the other hand Palin pulls 25% of the vote from Republicans. She’s not electable, but she appeals to the base. The truth is you smear who is smearable, whether they are a threat or not. Linda’s an easy target, as is Palin and as was Quayle. It’s the same reason the Republicans smear Ted Kennedy, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, etc. Easy targets yet in the end the smear was pointless since no one was going to elect either Jesse or Sharpton and Kennedy wasn’t moving up or being defeated.

I just want to know what they are up to and how this could potentially benefit the WWE, which I can only speculate is at least one of their primary goals for running (should she win).
