People have been e-mailing me about this all day, so I figured I’d comment. And I think that comic nerds are over-reacting just a tad (as you’d expect), as I don’t think the Mouse is gonna swoop in and suddenly start giving a shit about the comics division. I’m thinking that Disney’s board finds more change in their couch than Marvel takes in from comics in a month. Really, the money here is from the movie division, thanks to the ultra-brilliant idea of creating an independent movie studio and shopping to individual studios. Disney wants the rights to the characters, not the ability to mess with the comics that not many people actually read anyway.
Plus, come on, Pixar doing a CGI Fantastic Four movie? MADE OF WIN.

What the fuck was the point of this show? I DVR’d it out of curiosity and was assaulted by an hour of video packages hyping nothing and advertising nothing. Hey, John Cena won a title that he no longer has from a guy who’s not even currently wrestling, that’s nice. The show was only 4 months ago and already all the storylines have no connection to anything here, except of course that HHH is still fighting Randy Orton in an infinite time loop of suck. Since there’s no WWE show on NBC, I don’t really understand what this is supposed to make me watch. I’m guessing it was just a contractual obligation on NBC’s part to burn off the failed SNME experiment, but why not just show the Shawn v. Undertaker match to hook new viewers instead of using storylines that mean nothing to the current product?

Howdy,
From across the seas I bring you new Lowbrow goodness:
http://www.popmatters.com/pm/column/110200-g.i.-joes-future-hangs-in-the-balance/
I'd titled it Transform and Rise Up: Rise of Cobra and the Future of the G.I. Joe Brand, but editorial whim rules all.
Hope ya dig it.
Indeed I did. Although I still haven’t seen the movie.
Did see Inglourious Basterds as my birthday present to myself, and loved the fuck out of it. Christoph Waltz absolutely deserves the Best Actor award if he does win it, as everyone is predicting already. He’s amazing and brings such overwhelming suspense to the screen every second that he’s on. What I also liked, much like Pulp Fiction before I had seen it 100 times, is that I had no fucking idea where anything was going and every little “chapter” was an adventure in cinema. Did anyone think that the drinking game was going to end up in the place that it did? Or indeed the ending itself, which I went into totally unspoiled and thus it shocked me as intended. It is a bit too long by a half an hour, but we know how much Tarantino loves his dialogue. I’d call it more on par with Jackie Brown than Pulp Fiction, so it’s ****1/2 instead of *****, basically.

The SmarK Retro Rant for WWF Wrestlemania VII
- Yeah, this is a kind of a random choice, I know, but I've been meaning to do the full Anthology version of the show for months now and this is as good a night as any. Since we didn't have PPV in Edmonton at the time, this is the first time I've ever seen anything besides the heavily edited Coliseum version of this show.
- Live from the Los Angeles Coliseum LA Sports Arena
- Your hosts are Gorilla Monsoon and a rotating cast of color commentators, mainly Bobby Heenan. First up is Hacksaw Duggan, introduced with entrance music dubbed over where he had none previously. I don't get that.

Kane, Disc 2 (of 3) Review
Hey folks, ThatNickGuy here. Sorry I didn’t get this done sooner, but things have been a little hectic, lately, with work and getting ready to return to school. Anyway, here’s the second part and I’m hoping to get the third one done by next week. *crosses his fingers*

WWE Superstars Recap, August 27, 2009
Taped on Monday, August 24 in Las Vegas and Tuesday, August 25 in Phoenix
By Alexander Coleman
-Before the show begins, The Miz is plugged along with WWE Superstars during the end credits of “America's Funniest Home Videos.” He is “AWESOME!” WGN America tells us to “Expect Everything.”
-WWE opening.
-Superstars opening.
-Pyro!!!
-Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler introduce us to Superstars. They hype Finlay vs. Mike Knox vs. Dolph Ziggler as tonight's main event—provided by Smackdown—with the winner going to Breaking Point to challenge Rey Mysterio. Well, that was the plan but the Wellness Policy has doubtless changed things.

The SmarK Legacy Rant for Summerslam Spectacular 1993
- Taped from Poughkeepsie, NY, somewhere around August 16 1993. Probably that night.
- Your hosts are Jim Ross and Gorilla Monsoon. Huh.
- I'm delighted that this show, hyped for three weeks on the 1993 RAWs, is in fact available under Mike Rotundo's "Where are they now?" page. Gotta love the WWE's video library.

Well I guess we were about due for a Wellness violation. Really though, if Rey didn’t juice up to stay the size that he is, he’d quickly get depushed, so his continued use of the stuff even after the Signature Pharmacy fiasco is somewhat understandable. Still, much like Brian Pillman, someone who is naturally 110 pounds or so gassing up to 220 on a regular basis just isn’t healthy.

WCW Monday Nitro 3/26/01
by Brian Bayless
Before the credits roll, we see Vince McMahon standing in the RAW is WAR background. This show was being broadcasted on both WCW and WWF programming at the same time. He go on by saying “I bought WCW, how could of that happened.” He says that is was just a matter of time before he bought of his competition. He goes on about how he now has the chance to address both WCW and WWF fans. He asks “What is the fate.” He then notes that the very fate of WCW is in his hands.
