This has nothing to do with the post but I wanted to share something my girlfriend said last night. She was a fan during the Attitude era, watching both WCW & WWF, and stopped watching when Hogan won the title in 2002. So we’re flipping channels last night and she comes across TNA, with Booker T, Scott Steiner and Nash wrestling. She said…

“Aw look at poor Kevin Nash, is he broke? Why is he still wrestling? Is that Scott Steiner? This is sad, at least Booker T looks normal.”

Then she changed the channel. I thought it was a spot-on description of why casual fans like her don’t watch TNA. Of course its timing but if she stopped and newer guys were wrestling, I bet she would’ve given it more time.

Are you sure about that whole watching TNA longer thing? It’s your girlfriend and I sure as heck am not going to tell YOU what she would or wouldn’t do.. but I can tell you that TNA is VERY hard to watch for the casual fans, at least it is with my casual fan friends. Mike Tenay annoys the shit out of them, they hate the 6 sided ring, and most of them find the characters annoying. It’s just not a good product.

I’ve been a fan of pro wrestling as far back as I can remember, and even I can’t watch it. You can blame it on “growing out of it” if you’d like, but I’d like to think that it’s because of the reasons I listed above instead.

On topic: It was a nice article, keep me entertained for a bit.

I can’t even watch TNA while fast forwarding through 99% of the show on TIVO. It sucks…and yes, I stopped recording it almost a year ago.

As much as I bitch about the state of things in McMahon-land, it is by far better than TNA.

That is a pretty fucking eerie title. I thought we lost another one.
