Jericho Plug

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

Hey:

I'm helping promote something for the Independent Film Channel that I thought you might be interested in for your site.

This week, Chris Jericho is going to appear on the IFC's original comedy "Z Rock" (episode premieres Sunday, July 12 @ 11:00PM ET/PT. Encores Tuesday, July 14 @ 10:00 PM).

If you haven't seen it, Z Rock is a partially-scripted show about real-life struggling NYC rock band ZO2. To make ends meet, they perform during the day as the Z Brothers, a kids party band for hire.  Think Curb Your Enthusiasm meets Spinal Tap.

In this week's episode, the boys’ dreams finally come true: they play a wrestling-themed kids party in which they get to dress up in tights and capes.  Pulled

Pork Paulie, Joeylicious, and ChippenDave put on quite a show.  But a newly coined phrase gets Joey in trouble with one of his idols: wrestling legend Chris Jericho.  Jim Norton, Jeff Ross and Chris Jericho guest star.

Check out the clip here: http://www.ifc.com/videos/z-rock-ep-206-clip-2.php

Jericho also called out this guest performance on his website recently: http://chrisjericho.net/preview-of-chris-on-z-rock/104

It'd be awesome if you could embed the video and link to the Z Rock page on IFC.com to let your readers know about Jericho on Z Rock this week.

Always happy to help Chris out.

Edgy thoughts

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

I've read plenty of your reviews, but have never read a definitive statement from you regarding your thoughts on Edge as a performer/entertainer.

Of guys who made their debut post-1990, Edge is my favorite.  His run with Christian was such gold back in the day.  And the 'Rated R Superstar" persona entertains me to no end.

He doesn't put on ****+ matches with the regularity that Benoit, Flair, or HBK did, but he's still an excellent in-ring performer.   This latest injury sucks balls.   SmackDown is still superior to RAW (by a mile) but it took a huge hit with the loss of Edge.

I like Edge well enough.  I think his appeal to me personally has been mostly fading since his awesome breakthrough with Lita as a main event package, because really that act worked so well you were never gonna top it.  And I think the lack of a definitive Big Match has kind of hurt his standing overall.  He’ll probably hit upon his Flair-Steamboat if he sticks around long enough, but there’s just nothing on his DVD that screams “Must Buy”.

But regardless, I’d probably call him my favorite active worker, not that that’s saying much at this point because they’re all getting pretty interchangeable at the top of the card.
