I disagree completely. The Simpsons, even now, is a much funnier show than South Park.

"Stewie falls in love with the baby, and we get his version of "Everything I Do (I Do It For You)" complete with every horrifying music video cliché they can fit into a 3 minute segment."

credit where credit is due: that has got to be my alltime favorite "music video spoof".

@"jump the shark"/Simpsons discussion:
South Park owns every one of those shows at the moment and has gotten so good during the last seasons.

I've pretty much given up on both shows. The Simpson has gone from unwatchable to merely boring and derivative, which is an improvement (I guess) but it's nothing I'm willing to waste my time on any longer.

And Family Guy is just...well, I don't think there are strong enough words. The show has always been about Seth's agenda to a certain extent, but now it's just an extended bitter unentertaining rant in animated form against every single hot-button issue or popular fad that pisses him off (and without the self-awareness or cleverness of South Park, which is essentially the same type of show) complete with unfunny non-sequiturs that are now shoved down our throats like castor oil cocktails. And he's basically wearing his mysogyny like a badge of honor now, as typified by his creepy delight in the constant abuse of Meg and horrifying scenes like Peter brutally beating a high-school girl. The 'it's just a cartoon, RELAX' defense doesn't fly with me anymore, and I think FOX would be better served by pulling a Groening and reducing Seth to an 'Executive Consultant' role before he kills the golden goose and then has sex with the corpse while singing a showtune.

Thank God for American Dad.

Am I the only person who hates Brian's preachy and judgmental character anymore?

I almost wish they had the balls to actually replace him because I just cannot stand seeing or hearing him anymore.

Wow...I didn't realize this season hit you with the Family Gay and The Juice is Loose episodes to end the season. That's a hell of a 1-2 punch of suck right there.

Yeah, there have been several call-backs to pretty old episodes recently. One I remember was Moe being a snake-handler, which was a one-off gag used back in '92.

You know, I actually have a theory about that. When Simpsons first started, it used all these unknown hotshot writers who did this funny stuff, and then after 12 or 13 seasons the show got really stale and dull. But now you have this whole new generation of writers who actually grew up watching the show, and are replacing the old guard and more closely mimicking the classic episodes that they remember from their younger years, which is kind of giving us a renaissance of the show again in a roundabout way. So really, the show is ripping itself off to reinvent itself yet again.
