Time for the Lost theories!

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

Here is my theory, it's is kind of long so I apologize...
The guy with Jacob at the beginning of the episode is a physical manifestation of the smoke monster, that’s why he was wearing black. He also represents evil. Jacob has faith in mankind but the smoke monster doesn’t that why it judges and kills “bad” or flawed people. The smoke monster can’t kill Jacob for some reason despite its desire to do so. Jacob is aware of the smoke monster’s plans to try and kill him by finding the “loophole” and therefore arranges for protectors in the form of Kate, Sawyer, Juliet, and Jack. If that group sets off the bomb, then Flight 815 never crashes on the island and John Locke is never there. John is a man beaten down by life and hates the idea that he is just ordinary so much that he is willing to follow anyone or anything that tells him otherwise. Jock Locke is influenced by Christian Shepherd, a dead man, and a physical manifestation of the smoke monster. Ben is influenced by Alex, his dead daughter, and physical manifestation of the smoke monster to follow John Locke. The smoke monster is manipulating both as a means to kill Jacob. The smoke monster then takes the form of a black shirt wearing John Locke, a dead man, to further manipulate Ben (himself a master manipulator) into killing Jacob for it. Once the bomb goes off, all of that goes away and free will once again reigns over destiny. Of course, that doesn’t mean the smoke monster will stop trying and maybe the last season will be about Jacob’s protectors trying to destroy the smoke monster once and for all.
Oh and the answer to the question “what lies in the shadow of the statue” is “ille qui nos omnes servabit” which is Latin for ‘He who will protect us all.” Remember when Juliet said that Latin was “Others 101?” Interesting…

Another thought:
Maybe Jacob exists outside of time and can see all possible futures so he draws certain people to him so that they can all be part of his grand tapestry

Nice, but I don't buy into the idea that Jacob is necessarily the good guy because he's wearing white.  He seemed to be fostering the darker side of the people he was "gathering", and you'll also note he didn't really do anything to help them, either.  It was more like he was manipulating them like chess pieces, in particular the way he made sure Nadya would die and set Sayid off again.

Oh man.

Oh man.

I’m gonna need some time to process this one.

THE STATUE!  ROSE AND BERNARD!  VINCENT!  JACOB!

I think I pooped a little.

Is it January 10 2010 yet?
