The Jericho thing

I'm on the fence about this because it seems out of character enough for Chris that it might be a work, but this is a bit too ahead of the curve and subtle for them to have thought about it.  Their usual style would be to parody the Christian Bale thing by having someone throw a tantrum 5 weeks after the fact and then have Michael Cole explain that it's just like Christian Bale.

Anyway, the lesson here is that it's fine to dish out verbal abuse during the show, but don't bug the poor guys afterwards.

Fans were clearly in the wrong, and so far the only main stream reporting of this is through TMZ and they seem to agree.

Still, I’m sure most people will have the headline as “Jericho hits Woman” and that will be all she wrote.

To all of you who will say “What marks” or whatever, internet wrestling fans seem to live in a bubble. I was just at a WWE houseshow on Friday night. Of the 6,500 or so people there, about 6,400 were 100% convinced they were seeing a legit sporting event.

    Viral is Jericho?

Of the 500 versions of this story already circulating, the latest one is they were just hecking Jericho but not posing any threat to him but he still got out of the car and called the girl he would later punch either a ‘gook’ or a ‘chink’ or something equally as offensive to a South Korean.

    I really smell bullshit now.

I say it’s a work. There’s no way security would be that lax to let a mob of people grab at him. He was already in the car when he supposedly lost it. All he had to do was close the door and drive off. Plus, it looks as if he was parked on a suburban street in the middle of nowhere. What reason would he have to be there? It’s not a hotel, a gym, or a restaurant. Where else would he go if he were on the road, and wouldn’t he be traveling with someone? And suddenly, there’s a flock of people out of nowhere? How did they even know it was him driving before he got out? Too many questions.

At first, glancing at your post, I was going to mention you may have been overthinking it. Re-reading your post, it’s obvious you have no idea what you’re talking about. Do some research before coming up with conspiracy theories.

Good for Jericho. Too many people think that they can harass and push and shove wrestlers without any retaliation. Can’t say I blame him for the way he dealt with these idiots.

I loved the fact that woman told the press she spit on Jericho, called him a racist and then he punched her. Unreal.

Judging from a couple of fan’s POVs I’ve read, notably one on prowrestling.net, the guy was a total mark and thought it was real….just like the good ol’ days.

I still don’t see Jericho punching a woman. It looks like he got hit and then just pushed whoever was near him. I really, really hope the mainstream media either a) doesnt get a hold of this or b) doesn’t do their usual “wrestling is awful” bullshit.

Nancy Grace is probably producing a show tying Jericho to the kidnapping of Caylee Anthony as we speak. Just ask special guest Marc Mero.

I’ll put money on it getting turned into a work in the possible worst way–via a Main Event Interview featuring Steph suspending Jericho for “unprofessional behavior”

Also, “out of character”? Do you know the guy or something? And why are you ignoring the rest of the story? He wasn’t acting “out of character” considering he reacted how a person physically and verbally assaulted several times normally would.

But then again, it’s the Internet. Read half of a story and come to a conclusion. Some of you idiots need help and to disconnect what you see on TV with real life. The guy is leaving a random house show and gets assaulted by an overzealous fan. Kind of a pathetic way to try to fool people. But whatever. If doing stuff like that helps you cope with your pathetic existence, keep on ridin’ that train.

I think the person he “hit” was a plant, and that this is a work. He’s got some mainstream buzz lately because of the Rourke stuff, so I think this is just adding fuel to the fire; fanning the flames; or whatever other fire-related cliche of which you may conjure.

  9. Charlie says:

Didn’t Rourke have a thing once where he decked a fan or something?

Or am I thinking of someone else?

It’s a work people. Just like the Benoit murder/suicide, Owen Hart’s death and Vince buying out WCW. It’s all a work!!!!!!!!!!! Work!!!!!!!!!!

  12. awel_cruiz says:

Probably not a work since it wasn’t brought up on Raw last night.
