Although the Oscar nominations proved to be a huge disappointment, Lost did not.
I've always had a love-hate relationship with time travel, and although this season threatens to warp my fragile wittle mind, I'm loving the discombobulation going on. Faraday steps up to the plate and becomes a main event player! The time travel stuff now allows the writers to play in the sandbox they've created, because we can visit Rousseau, Dharma, the Black Rock, the hatches and get all kinds of cool backstory without needing the flashbacks and flashforwards. In fact, the story on The Island was so overwhelmingly fascinating for me that it really made the "three years later" stuff look weak by comparison. But then I'm sick of Jack and Kate and Hurley anyway. Nice shoutout by Anna Lucia ("Stay away from the cops") and I'm glad someone stood up to Ben, but I don't think getting arrested is the best course of action for Hurley. But as Ben said, it IS tough for people to trust him now. And Frogurt, the dumbest character ever, gets one of the most deserving deaths. Loved it.
Great start to the season.
Did any of the Academy voters actually SEE Benjamin Button? Because I got dragged their with my girlfriend and that was NOT a good move and certainly not an Oscar-worthy flick. Ugh, so boring and dumb. I can’t believe I’ve read people compare it to Forrest Gump…Gump was entertaining!
And for Wall-E and Dark Knight to both get no Best Picture love…heck, even the Wrestler could’ve gotten a nod….is awful. And the Oscar people wonder why they’re becoming irrelevant and no one watches the awards show anymore.
Sorry, I was right and pissed off this morning.
Couldn’t agree more. The Oscars have become a joke. The Wrestler finally came to my theater and I might see it this weekend. Should I bother? Is it any good?
FROGURT!! The actor playing Frogurt looked familiar so I googled him and he was in a Lost episode 2 years ago when he and Hurley fought over Libby. That’s great continuity by the writing staff! I hope the Lost writers continue paying off these great setups because JJ Abrams has a history of letting down his audience with non-sensical character development and inconsistent storylines. Example: Remember when Noel on Felicity had an illegitimate baby in Season 2…and then never mentioned that baby again, even when he was engaged to Felicity?
Also, I’m not sure if this is correct but I read somewhere that a character on Lost wearing a red shirt is destined to die that episode. Frogurt was wearing a red shirt but I can’t recall any other deaths. Something to watch for, I guess!
Frogurt has been mentioned off screen a few times and appears in the “missing pieces” mobisodes that came out online b/w season 3 & 4 where he tells hurley that Libby may like him now but he’ll screw it up and then it will be “Neil Time”
The red shirt thing comes from the original Star Trek as Scott knows. Whenever a featured character like Kirk or Spock would go down to a dangerous planet they’d take some “security personel” with them who wore red uniforms and “they always got killed” as Boone explained to Locke in Season 1.
Most of the red shirts are dead now, all the ones that went with Locke were machine gunned to death by mercenaries, most of the ones that went with Jack were detonated at the freighter.
The herd is being thinned now by “The Hostiles” the old version of the Others before Dharma traitors like Ben joined them. I assume thats who shot the flaming arrows because the Dharma station described in the opening scene to gather information and develop defenses against “The Hostiles” is called The Arrow.
Don’t forget that Horace Goodspeed who was building the Cabin that Jacob now uses, had an Arrow dharma jumper.
