If I remember correctly, when I voted, I don't remember seeing any options for matches featuring Benwah.

Also, I think this is one of the DVDs I'm not going to pick up, just because there is really nothing so ground breaking or essential on this DVD that makes me wanna go out and get it. It's like the Dusty Rhodes DVD. The only Dusty Rhodes matches I would be interested in watching would be against Flair, and God knows I have enough of those from the Flair DVDs.

Nope, Scott had it right. The match was on Smackdown, not Raw, so you are correct that HHH regained the title on the next Raw, making Jeff's title reign a mere 6 days, or 4 days if you consider air date instead of tape date for Smackdown. The Raw prior to the title change featured the Austin/HHH beatdown on Matt, Jeff, and Lita, setting up the IC title match on Smackdown, when Matt was supposedly home nursing his and Lita's injuries. I guess she must have been off with Edge instead.

Actually, being pre-brand split, HHH would regain the belt by squashing the ever-loving fuck out of Jeff at the very next Smackdown, not RAW. Because a full week was too long to keep HHH's manhood in question.

There goes my theory that they only did the fan voting for this one so as to avoid the whole Benoit thing. I figured that if they let the fans decide from a list of pre-approved matches, if someone questioned the lack of Benoit, they could do say "hey, you guys voted for it." Then the fans would say: "but he wasn't on the list." And the WWE would say: "Hey, look over there!" and run off.

Not that I don't agree with them, he shouldn't be on there. They showed they could do a set without him. And Jericho and Angle had enough good matches from that time period too.

Despite what I said above about the Hogan/Andre WM III match, I don't have a problem with repeat matches in general. I buy every DVD Set that comes out but for the casual fans who might only get certain sets, why not let them have the best matches possible?

The WWE Championship DVD Set was fan-voted too. I specifically remember voting for Hogan/Andre from Feb. 1988 because I hadn't seen the match since it had first aired and I was tired of the WrestleMania III match showing up on DVDs.

Absolutely Vince & company are afraid of the backlash because the media (i hate to make generalizations like that but they all seem to be in the anti-pro wrestling boat) could jump all over a story like that. WWE Profits From Murderer! And other ridiculous headlines.

Is that probable? Obviously not, with the problems that you mentioned. But if youre Vince...why even risk it? They have enough problems right now with their stock, their layoffs and their falling buyrate numbers. Why create another possible headache for no reason? There's nothing substantial to be gained by putting a Benoit match on...do you really think a Benoit match would get thousands of more people to buy the DVD? The bad far outweighs the good and it probably will for a long time, if not forever.

Trust me, its not about morality with the WWE sadly...its about money. Benoit is a horrible black cloud that the WWE will always have to deal with...why ever make it an issue? Especially when doing so could piss off not only the media but fans, like some people on this board, that would prefer not to see his matches.

I really don't have data to back this up, so don't flame me 'cause of it; but I think the bulk of the buying costumer's probably don't go to wwe.com to vote on these polls. I've never even bothered; but I buy my fair share of wrestling dvd's. I personally would still buy it if there was a Benoit match; but would probably skip over it at this time. I just have no will to want to watch him right now.

Here is the thing. The matches are fan voted. IF, and I know it's a huge leap of faith, IF the WWE had put Benoit(WOW I said the name and was not struck dead by God with lightning)matches on the ballot I think there was a good possibility they would've gotten voted on. I know what he did is unspeakable, BUT if the fans voted on the matches and said this particular match of his belonged on there what's the argument against not putting on it? How would it hurt sales...the fans voted for and they're the one buying it. If you saw a Benoit match on it would you not buy it on principle or just say ok and skip the match? I wouldn't miss out on the other stuff just b/c of one match. Would Vince be worried about media backlash? Does he really think with all strife in the world today between war and economic woes that the nightly news would give 2 shits about it if they found out...which would be highly unlikely anyway.
