The R&R-Andersons match is on the Bloodbath/Cage match set, although it is clipped down by about 5 minutes. Mainly Morton getting beat up (I know, I'm as shocked as you at such a thing). Still good to watch though.

I'm sure people would have been thrilled that a year long feud was blown off in five minutes.

P.S. aren't one or both R&R cage matches on the old Steel Cage DVD? And are they complete there?

Also, one sad thing to consider is that unlike the R&R, the Midnights never quite had a definitive Starrcade match, three of them being hampered by being gimmick matches ('85-'87), the fourth (vs. Original MX) maybe being the best one all things considered, not appearing at '89, and being broken up by '90.

Another foible with the fan voting...considering many of them have been raised on gimmick matches, they probably saw the Skywalkers match and thought, "Wow cool, a scaffold match." Without knowing that no one would do anything Hardy-like in it. This is also probably why the ladder match from 2000 made it there.

I wouldn't call this list BAD though (as per Smarkatheart's post below)...there's a lot of classics there too, despite the oddities that came about due to name value voting.

I don't know about the "Sting beats Hogan in five minutes" thing. I've heard other people repeat this same sentiment -- I'll certainly agree that they cheated this match by the bad booking, but I think giving it only five minutes would have put it in the same boat. It just really needed to be a big epic match -- I don't think they needed to reinvent the wheel or anything. At this point in their careers they both could have put on a decent bout with some practice. You know people really hark on the ending of the bout, but at least it had some relevance, the real problem is that the match has no flow. Sting hits his first big move and just stands there... Hogan runs through all his usual offense. There is just no energy. Weren't these guys even the least bit excited to be part of such a happening?

Yes, I know. I voted on it when it first came up on WWE.com. The fans for the most part don't get any list right. Too many people just voting on names, most probably never seen a Starrcade, ever.

For real. Sting was terrific for most of his career, even wrestling great matches in 99, and a few in TNA.

Dude was a machine and the backbone of WCW, ruined by politics and a company that didn't really appreciate him.

And nobody went, "Oh, it's just Sting." Most people watching then didn't have many memories of Sting from before, because most jumped on board with the nWo angle. They went "Wow, Hogan is crushing Sting. Damn."

"As far as the list, it was bad from the jump, but considering who was in control of putting the list together, it’s no surprise."

That would be the fans, since they voted for these matches with every match in Starrcade history on the ballot.

Why the hate for Sting? Sting was a good worker, and was always one of the most popular stars in wrestling. And his star didn't die out after the match. I don't even know what Scott is talking about there, but he tends to have distorted memories on a lot of things.

I can't believe the only RnR match was that crappy Skywalkers one. Their matches against the Russians and the Andersons are both Starrcade classics.
