Step-Awesome
Ignore the haters on Rotten Tomatoes, Step Brothers brings the FUNNY. It’s one of the few cases lately where they don’t ruin all the great jokes in the trailer because it’s basically Adam McKay giving Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly a stupid premise and then letting them improv for 90 minutes, and the results are fucking hilarious. Just be assured that intellectual, it is not, but if you can see why one person telling another one that their singing voice is "like a combination of Fergie and Jesus" is a great line, then this is your movie. The best way I can sum it up is an ultra-vulgar combination of 40 Year Old Virgin and Dumb and Dumber, and I’ll leave it at that and resist the temptation to give away all the great lines which will soon be swarming the internet, I’m sure.
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than The Dark Knight.
Not possible
“I’ll leave it at that and resist the temptation to give away all the great lines which will soon be swarming the internet, I’m sure. ”
We are here to fuck shit up!
The best line in the whole movie is when they go over John C. Reilly’s resume and the holes in his work experience are explained by him “Going Kerouac on everybody’s ass for 22 years”
Richard Jenkins and John C. Reilly are fucking awesome, guys who can do serious acting *AND* comedy better than almost anyone.
Go see WALL-E instead.
While it’s a decent idea in theory, “Step-Brothers” is one huge turd IMHO.
The thing should have been done as an animated film with Reilly and Ferrel playing kids, since that way the writers could have gotten more out of the concept of the two actors playing step-brothers without having to deal with the unfunniness of two grown men acting like five year olds, in a plot that even Mad TV wouldn’t touch with a ten foot poll.
Ferrel’s going to have to do at least two-to-three dramedies in order to make up this shitty film.
I have to heartilly disagree with the above poster who said it should have been done as an animated film. The entire draw of the movie in the first place is the fact that they are TWO 40 year old MAN CHILDREN. That’s the entire concept of the flick.
If it’s not your cup of tea or doesn’t cater to your sense of humor, then I feel immensely sorry for you. I laughed my ass off like never before and had a great time at the film and thought it was pulled off excellently. It’s more absurd then Talladega Nights, and something tells me that fans of Ferrel and Reilly are going to go out in flocks to see this and enjoy it.
