Heroes
Monday, September 3rd, 2007Yeah, so everyone was telling me to check it out when it was on last year and I kept holding out and decided to wait for the DVD so I could watch it in one shot without commercials, and thus far it’s TOTALLY worth the wait. I’ve only finished the fourth episode (ending with Future Hiro stopping time on the train and introducing himself to a freaked-out Peter) and I think it may end up being my favorite show in a long while, outside of Dexter. Sure, the setup is typical superhero stuff, but the great thing is that the characters are damned interesting that you can’t help but getting sucked in despite the somewhat cliche nature of the Mysterious Suits and Rape Revenge Fantasy and Shadowy All-Powerful Villain and all the stuff that us comic book nerds look for in our superhero fiction. Outstanding thus far, and hopefully it continues at this quality level.
Speaking of continuing quality levels, I’d HIGHLY recommend hitting the torrent sites and grabbing the first two leaked episodes of Dexter’s second season, because they’re awesome and right up there with the first season. I won’t even give anything away, but lemme just say that they hit you with some pretty big plot twists right out of the gate and it does not disappoint in the least. I don’t even know when it’s starting up again because we don’t get Showtime up here and I have to download most of my US pay TV anyway, but jump all over it if you love serial killer stories and are looking for something decidedly darker and cooler in one.
