OK, so the bad news for wrestlers everywhere is that I’m on vacation for the next couple of weeks. But don’t panic! I’ll be able to update the blog while I’m in BC, and thus nobody should be dead when I return home to Saskatchewan. I hope.

Anyone with half a brain, who saw it, would realize Nash made that blonde look like an idiot. So obviously he gets cut off. All of the Fox News coverage has been sickening and biased. I’m not saying wrestlers shouldn’t be held to laws like normal people, but Benoit needs to be held responsible for his actions. I’m very interested in Larry King’s piece Monday. He seems to be hosting the guys who speak the best; Jericho, Bret, Dibiase…
Yeah, the same happened with the Ultimate Warrior when he went to the show, they cut him off. They don’t want the wrestlers to express thereselves.
Good thing you didn’t take this vacation a couple weeks ago or you might never have taken another one. At least you can relax assured that whatever may happen can hardly be worse.
Couple things I’ve been thinking about for when you get back, or for whoever wants to talk:
1) I think Eddie’s death is now a double tragedy, because he and Benoit were ring brothers. I don’t think anyone was closer to Benoit at work. If anyone could have provided warning beforehand or possible explanations afterward, it would have been Eddie.
2) Given his self-abuse over the years, who’d have thought that Jake the Snake would have outlived some of the people he’s outlived?
3) I don’t know a lot about Japanese wrestling, but I assume the number of gaijin who’ve won major tournaments is small. Both Benoit and Eddie won the Super J Cup, and so were obviously highly respected there. What is the Japanese wrestling community’s reaction to their deaths?
I remember reading that Ohtani was shocked and very upset. I saw Lyger’s shoot, and he was very high on Benoit and learned a lot from him, so he’s probably upset as well.
I got to admit, I’ve pegged Jake Roberts as a dead man even before the Heroes of Wrestling debacle, and so far he’s outlasting everyone in the business. He’s got to be one tough son of a bitch to withstand all that personal abuse. It’s almost Motley Crue-like.
I also saw the Kevin Nash inteview, and my respect for him pretty much skyrocketed. I’m not sure this is enough to forgive his WCW booking in ‘99, but his level-headed answers and response in face of the growing media manipulation sure comes close.

Not for nothing has anyone noticed that the WWE has been better since Benoit’s death. By better I mean there haven’t been a lot of dumb angles/storylines. I’m probably jinxing it and next week Stephanie McMahon and Jillian Hall will do RAW the Musical but maybe not.
What do you think? Does the WWE need writers? And if so, how much writing should they be doing?

Hope you enjoy your vacation cuz when you get back you will see how far the Benoit murder death kills goes. Homeboy has been excluded from WWE 24/7! You can forget about seeing the 4 Horseman ever again in the Monday Night wars as the most recent one being shown doesnt even metion his name nor show his match from Nitro. I am pretty sure he wrestled almost every Nitro while he was in WCW. Oh well, I hope people got him on DVD and tape cuz you wont ever hear from him again on WWE TV.
