Google ads are often incorrectly targeted, like they advertised pro Scientology/Tom Cruise/L Ron Hubbard stuff on YTMND during the "Anti Scientology" fad on there.

Your ads are fairly discreet so there's no reason they should iritate anyone. Besides, Internet users are programmed to expect to see ads on major sites anyway. Why should yours be different?

One thing to consider is the money to be made from Google Ads in compairison to other sources. On my site, www.tctheterrible.com (cheap plug), the ads from Amazon are already paying off better than Google (at a rate of about 3:1) and they have been up for less than 48 hours. But whatever you think is right is what you should go with.

Dude, there's nothing in the ad code to generate a pop-up, and Google specifically has it in the TOS that anything opening a new window is a violation of the agreement, so it's from something else.

They're fine. Since we're trying to make money here, can I interest anyone in Pro Wrestling Illustrateds?

I agree, although I didn't even notice said ads until after I had read Scott's post. It'd be a little hard to pass up such 'easy money', aaand he's up front about it, which is respectable.

But still, down with the system!

I literally just had a popup from the google ad program, I'm using mozilla, have a squeaky clean computer and had no other tabs open so it had to be you.

I honestly hate this site, not that you don't deserve your own domain but it's set up like crap, it took me 3 days to figure out how to log in which is never good. The thing needs to be rejiggered to be more user friendly, and I don't mind ads if they're at least targeted (See: Something Awful who make a freaking fortune off ads because they advertise stuff their users care about)

I'd recommend trying Yahoo Ads before doing Google. With entertainment-specific content (and pro wrestling), Yahoo seems to have much better placed ads, which leads to more money for you. Google ads on a wrestling site is a little bit tough, just because the ad market for wrestling on the web has developed to ""BUY A REAL WWE BELT" to "JOHN CENA STUFT ANIMALS"

Drop me a line if you want more insight on the ad market. It's somewhat my area of expertise these days.

I think I prefered "Communist columnist Scott Keith" better than "Capitalist columnist Scott Keith," but until you start charging us to view content I give it a big..."whatever."

Google ads aren't bad at all. Most people only end up getting couple of bucks from them, but I have heard of people getting a couple of hundred. You have a decent fanbase and i'm sure this site gets a good amount of hits, so you'll probably get something out of it.
In the end, whether you make a dollar or a hundred off of it, it is effortless money.
